Lumbar Canal stenosis is caused by hypertrophy of facet joints and ligamentum flavum causing compression over nerve roots and spinal cord. Patients are usually above 50 years of age and complain of pain in legs or buttocks on walking or standing which gets better with rest. Treatment initially is always conservative consisting of medicines physiotherapy and exercises. Some of the patients may need epidural injection. Patient with long standing claudication which is not responding to non operative measures need surgery.
