LUMBAR MICRODISCEECTOMY AND CAUDA EQUINA SYNDROME 32 year old female presented with complaints of back pain with both legs pain since 2 months. Her pain were sciatica like sharp shooting in nature and increased with activity and reduced with rest. She also complained of both buttock numbness and tingling and had some difficulty in micturition and passing stools. Her MRI showed a large L5 S1 disc compressing the Nerve roots. She was diagnosed as a case of Cauda equina syndrome and was advised to undergo surgery Urgently. She underwent Microdiscectomy next day through 1 inch incision. he r pain improved from next day and bowel bladder function was normal within a week.
